“What did it feel like, I wondered, to love someone that much? So much that you couldn’t even control yourself when they came close, as if you might just break free of whatever was holding you and throw yourself at them with enough force to easily overwhelm you both.”—Sarah Dessen (This Lullaby)
So, as some of you may have seen in some of my past posts, my friend Jon and I have been working on a comic for a while now. Within the past week several things have been decided/happened that have pushed us even further into the creation process. We are going on tour this year to a few conventions in an effort to begin promoting the comic and our label, as well as to hopefully start building a fan base. We’re planning on touring every year, but this year is starting off a bit haphazardly so we’re keeping things small as far as merch and conventions go.
We’re still very small and we’re also still mostly in the conceptual stage at this point, but Jon and I are very dedicated to this project and we are both very optimistic about the future of both the comic and the label.
We’re currently planning on visiting three to four conventions this year. Details about that will be posted on the facebook page soon. We also have a friend working on setting up a website for us and so we’ll have a link to that up as soon as possible as well.
The link is to our newly created facebook page. If you’re interested in manga/comics/anime/superheros/etc., or if you just want to help us in our rather epic quest to become successful, please “Like” us on facebook and tell your friends and all that jazz.
My summer’s going to be filled with searching for and hopefully finding a job, hopefully working a lot, writing, reading, helping my buddy with his comic, and anime convention hopping as we try to get the word out about that comic.
“What is that supposed to mean, ‘come to like yourself’? How do you look for these ‘good points,’ I wonder, when you only know what points you don’t like and you dislike yourself because you don’t know any others? That’s not it. That’s not it— That’s not how it is. I think the way is to have someone tell you that they like you so that you can first begin to like yourself, you know? When someone first accepts you, that’s when you first begin to forgive yourself a little, and begin to think you like yourself, I believe.”—Fruits Basket, Episode 17
“Regardless of how you feel inside, always try to look like a winner. Even if you are behind, a sustained look of control and confidence can give you a mental edge that results in victory.”—Arthur Ashe
“To get up each morning with the resolve to be happy… is to set our own conditions to the events of each day. To do this is to condition circumstances instead of being conditioned by them.”—Ralph Waldo Trine
“A man who is master of himself can end a sorrow as easily as he can invent a pleasure. I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.”—Oscar Wilde
I think sometimes it’s simply not possible to decide whether or not to jump until you’re actually standing with your toes curled against the edge of the cliff, peering out over the expanse into which you are about to plunge.
